My High School Experience...So Far

When people talk about high school, they make it sound like this place that you don't even want to go near. Most times it is very true, but then there are times where that paradigm isn't even close. I have been in high school for five weeks, and so far so good. I'm having a ball, and my grades are awesome. I am the the only student in the whole school who has 100% in Biology.
Now, let me give you a little insight in my school. I attend school and UIC College Prep. It's a new school, and there is only 180 students there. Which are the freshmans. Now, it's very strict there, and I can finally see why. There are so many rules there to make sure that students are safe. Kids get demerits left and right but that doesn't make us a bad school. No one is perfect.
When people ask me if I like school and I tell them that I do, they honestly think that I am lying. They think I am just saying that to make my parents happy. Which isn't even true. High school for me is a blast, I am having so much fun! Now, not everyone can get the same experience like I am getting. Which is unfortunate. But...that's what happens.
All I have to say is that you should enjoy these moments that you have, because once they are gone, they are not coming back. They are gone. Mom is always telling me that. When I first came to this school, I really didn't like it. But I kept coming, and I noticed that these teachers actually CARE! It was so strange. They really want to know your funny stories, they want to know what you did over the weekend, they want to know your personal life, they want to know what's going on at home, they want to know what's going on with your boyfriend or girlfriend. They want to know. They don't just sit there and pretend to listen. They listen to you, they even take notes while you are talking.
I have never had that before. Well actually only once, but that was in 5th grade. But that was still some time ago, so I forget what that feeling was like. Now that I have it back, I'm still trying to get used to it. It's so strange for me. I mean, teachers actually come up to me and ask how was my weekend, and they don't walk away. they stand there and listen and respond. I know it sounds corny, but it's a good feeling when you know that someone is ACTUALLY listening to you.
So, enjoy high school. Have as much as you can-and of course try your very best to stay out of trouble. =)
